PINK ARMCHAIR PORTRAITS
The Pink Armchair Portraits is an ambitious, evolving series that gathers friends, acquaintances, artists, writers, and chance encounters into a single, ever-expanding artwork.
It is capturing a growing constellation of humanity—one chair, one sitter, and one moment at a time.
Seated in the same Archie Bunker–style pink recliner, each sitter occupies a shared—yet unshared—space: a physical setting that reveals subtle threads of connection between strangers, while at the same time allowing each individual to inhabit their own unique galaxy. Arranged in a grid, the portraits invite unexpected visual and emotional resonances to emerge. Together, they celebrate the distinctiveness of each person while affirming the resilience and vitality of the human spirit in collective presence.
Rooted in Jersey City, the portrait series has evolved into a new iteration: the Pink Armchair Project producing expressive Sharpie portraits, each drawn in under seven minutes at live events. It now aspires to travel to other cities—expanding its reach and deepening its archive of everyday humanity.
